Accademia delle Scienze - Sala dei Mappamondi

As the culmination of ten days of infinite curiosity Hans Ulrich Obrist, Swiss curator and co-director of the Serpentine Gallery of London, conducts a quartet of interviews with four figures of different ages, backgrounds, histories and expressive areas: an Italian art critic, painter and philosopher, Gillo Dorfles, a New York artist, Taryn Simon, a Bulgarian scientist who teaches at Harvard, Dimitar Sasselov, and the rediscovered and most scientifically curious amongst the protagonists of the Arte Povera season, Piero Gilardi. A subtle system of echoes pervades this sequence of Turin interviews: in his many decades of activity as a critic, Gillo Dorfles has constantly explored the relationship between art and other disciplines, Taryn Simon is working on astronomy, which is the chosen subject of study of Dimitar Sasselov, who discovers dozens of new planets every year and has just published a book entitled “Super Earths”, and who for many years has collaborated with artists like Wolfgang Tillmans. The final day of Giorno per Giorno (Day by Day), like any explicit that should be respected, is to be a summary and a promise of contradiction and coherence – from here to eternity.
