Camilla Baresani (b. 1961 in Brescia) made her authorial debut in 2000 with Il plagio, published by Mondadori. In the same year she wrote a radio drama, Al ristorante del buon ricordo, which was directed by Andrea Barzini. Her subsequent novels have been published by Mondadori and Bompiani. The third, L'imperfezione dell'amore, won her the Forte Village Montblanc award for emerging writer of the year in 2005. In 2010, her novel Un'estate fa won the Premio Hemingway and Premio Selezione Rapallo awards. A great food buff, she has written La cena delle meraviglie, with recipes by Allan Bay, Feltrinelli, 2007, and has edited a book about chocolate, Alla ricerca del cacao perduto, Gribaudo, 2011.
Her books and short stories have been published in Holland, the US, and Romania. She has done work for the reviews Panta and L'Erasmo and contributed articles to Il Foglio, Vanity Fair, Panorama, and Corriere della Sera. At present, she is a regular contributor to the Sunday edition of Il Sole 24 Ore, to Sette, Io Donna, the Style section of Corriere della Sera, and Amica. She is on the editorial panel of the quarterly IDEM, for which she writes editorials. For CoolTour, Rai5's daily cultural news show, she conducts CoolChef, a section featuring interviews with Italy's finest chefs. She teaches creative writing in the Journalism department of IULM Milan.
