Music
Paul Beauchamp (b. 1974 in Portland) began his career in North Carolina’s Appalachian foothills in the early ’90s, experimenting with tape loops, field recordings, found objects, and improvised instruments in the art ensemble Diviner. After several years of activity on the home taper scene, he co-founded the international art/music collective Radon, with which he published the work of figures such as Smegma and Steve Mackay (of the Stooges) as well as Radon’s tribal/noise project, Sikhara, which kept him touring almost non-stop for years across America, Europe and Asia. His interest in sonic experimentation and manipulation has led him from home-made tape loops and field recordings into the world of synthesis and computer-generated music, as well as research into acoustic sources linked to his own roots, such as the harmonica, the musical saw and the dulcimer.
